Jury prize on Annecy 2020

A film “The Nose or the Conspiracy of Mavericks” by Andrey Khrzhanovsky has won the jury prize for the Best Feature film on one of the most world’s valuable animation festival – Annecy 2020!
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival every year holds in French city Annecy near the lake. This year it was first time hold online from 15 until 30 of June.
The scenario for “The Nose or the Conspiracy of Mavericks” war written by Andrey Khrzhanovsky and Juriy Arabov. The film is based on the two greatest creations of the Russian genius: A short story, “The Nose” by Nikolai Gogol, and an opera, “The Nose” that composer Dmitri Shostakovich made Gogol’s novel into in 1930.The film is dedicated to pioneers, innovators in art. People who are ahead of their time. And, most importantly, who have no fear to go against the tide. At the cost of personal well-being, and often life.The main characters of the film are writers Nikolai Gogol and Mikhail Bulgakov, director Vsevolod Meyerhold and composer Dmitry Shostakovich.

This is what Andrey Khrzhanovsky said after getting the prize: “First of all I would like to thank jury for this prize. Everyone dreams to receive prize of your festival. I believe that Gogol and Shostakovich would be glad too. This prize inspired me to think about new film. I will tell you as a secret, I have already started. My best wishes to all of you and thank you very much”.
